Coconut Fiber

Coconut fibre, is a natural fibre extracted from the husk of coconut and used in products such as floor mats, doormats, brushes and mattresses. Coir is the fibrous material found between the hard, internal shell and the outer coat of a coconut. Other uses of brown coir (made from ripe coconut) are in upholstery padding, sacking and horticulture. Coir fibres are found between the hard, internal shell and the outer coat of a coconut. The individual fibre cells are narrow and hollow, with thick walls made of cellulose. They are pale when immature, but later become hardened and yellowed as a layer of lignin is deposited on their walls.

Coir Fiber is of two types–brown and white

Coir obtained from fresh green Coconut is termed as White Fiber, which is finer than the Brown Fiber. The Brown Fiber is the outcome of Seasoned Fully Matured Coconuts which lose theirgreen color in the process. Each of them has their own distinct types of applications. The Brown Fiber is widely used for fabrication of doormats, brushes, coir mattresses and other upholstery material whereas the White Fiber is used for making ropes, making fishing nets, and other eco-friendly Products
